Prime rib was at least 50% fat ( see photos) Took more time to cut off fat than eat the prime rib. Poor service ! Water glass was not refilled until she gave us the bill…almost an hour after ordering! Waitress seemed preoccupied with other tables even though it was overly busy . Last time we were here was with group of nearly 50. Service and food was great since owners were directly involved! Need more quality control and wait help training !
"3rd time's the charm"? Nope, sadly not. To sum this place up: it's good but not great.
We've had the shrimp scampi, walleye, flat bread, chicken marsala, artichoke dip...it's all good, but not great. Which is pretty disappointing because the prices would suggest otherwise.
For example, the crust on the $25 walleye is pretty bland and the side of mixed vegetables came out to varying degrees of cooked, under cooked, and over cooked. There is also a baked potato side that was pretty dry, but enough butter, salt, and pepper will improve anything.
What's really annoying is the $12 old fashioned that is 80% ice cube. Just look at the size of that thing! Skimp much?
The service was just OK. They were slammed for a Tuesday night so I can't fault the slow service too much but our waitress did say our order was never put in because the "ticket printer ran out of ink"...not sure how believable that is. She did offer some soup or salads on the house while we waited for the order to get made.
Look, this place is always busy so people clearly like it and must know something I don't. If you want to pay high end prices for generic Sysco food, then this is your place.
Overall great little place, they have some classic bar food favorites like burgers, but also some heartier rustic dishes. The food was good and hot, the wild rice soup had great flavor and the rigatoni pasta was flavorful and hearty. The server wasn't exactly the most friendly but still provided good service. Will definitely head back.
Didn’t have a reservation, but they kindly let us in. Service was friendly, great choices on the menu. I got Cajun chicken pasta (pared down from regular prep) and it was really flavourful and satisfying. Highly recommend. Will go again and will have plenty of decisions to make on what to order!!
Today was my first dining experience at Winchester and Rye and I was favorable impressed!
The food was served in a timely manner and the wait staff was reasonably attentive.
I was dining with my spouse, son and daughter in law. They were return customers who recommended W and R.
The ambiance is wonderful! Lighting fixtures and decor nicely done.
We will be back again!
First time here, what a treasure in a small town! Our waitress was very busy but always checked in when needed throughout dinner. Great selection of entrees for light to hearty appetites. I had their Cajun Pasta, which is a mix of andouille sausage, chicken and shrimp in a delicious sauce, which I’d order again. Nice selection of drafts as well.
Excellent food, service and atmosphere. We all enjoyed our meals.
Great food and dining experience served with smiles.Hamburgers are a classic American dish loved for their juicy beef patty, flavorful toppings, and soft bun. They offer a satisfying combination of textures and flavors that make them a popular choice for many. Whether grilled, fried, or cooked on a griddle, hamburgers are versatile and can be customized to suit individual preferences. The quality of the ingredients used greatly impacts the taste of a hamburger. A perfectly cooked patty with the right amount of seasoning is essential for a delicious burger. Toppings like cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, and condiments such as ketchup, mustard, and mayo add layers of flavor. The bun should be soft yet sturdy enough to hold all the ingredients together without falling apart. Hamburgers can be enjoyed at various establishments ranging from fast-food chains to gourmet burger joints. They are often served with a side of fries or a salad. Hamburgers have become an iconic symbol of American cuisine and are enjoyed by people of all ages.
